Programs
Our programs build strength, stamina and self-esteem while enhancing the quality of life for all our participants. WAS operates year-round and provides many rewarding activities including skiing, snowshoeing and adaptive hockey in the winter; hiking, fishing, orienteering, bicycling and tram rides during the summer. Adaptive horseback riding and bowling are year-round activities offered by WAS.
Winter Programs
Downhill Skiing
Downhill Skiing for children and adults with special needs. Adaptive equipment will be provided based on individual needs. Equipment available includes sit-down skiing devices, outriggers, ski-walkers and regular ski equipment.
Cross Country Skiing
Cross country tours through the Snowbird Resort.
Adaptive Cross Country Skiing
Sit-down cross-country skiing devices and walkers available. .
Sled Hockey
Sit-down ice hockey
Snowshoeing
Nature tours on snowshoes, walkers available.
Summer Programs
Nature Hikes
Hikes through the beautiful Wasatch mountains on Snowbird's Barrier Free Trail (Wheelchair accessible).
Fishing
Fly fishing and bait fishing on Austin Pond (Wheelchair accessible).
Adaptive Biking
Rides through the beautiful Wasatch mountains on Snowbird's Barrier Free Trail, and in Liberty and Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City.
Snowbird Activites
Tram rides, bungee jumping, alpine slide rides and Zip Rider rides.
Mine and Water Tunnel Tours
Guided tours through Little Cottonwood Canyons mines and tunnels.
GPS/Orienteering Classes
Classes to teach navigation with hand-held GPS and compass.
Boundless Playground
Wheel Chair accessible, boundless playground activities for all abilities.
Hippo-Therapy
Adaptive/therapeutic horseback riding on specially trained horses.
